In The Eye of War
By: Margarett Chang

Reviews

From Horn Book
An interesting perspective on World War II is provided through the eyes of Shao-shao, a ten-year-old living in Japanese-occupied Shanghai. Although the novel is primarily a study of the boy's experiences, abundant detail is provided about other members of the family, holiday customs, everyday living, schooling, and favorite play activities. After a slow beginning, the pace picks up a bit, but the story is more observation than action. -- Copyright © 1990 The Horn Book, Inc. All rights reserved.
