The author was South Vietnam's ambassador to Washington
from 1968-1972. In this memoir he chronicles Vietnam's struggles from the end
of the French colonial period to 1975 when North Vietnamese troops entered
Saigon. He discusses his own involvement in the Vietnamese nationalist
movement and his role in different South Vietnamese governments.
